~Reveiews From Experts~

"It's hard to get my students interested in any book. But as one of my students and I read through Lisa's book, we read a few parts out loud, now everyone in the class wants a copy. This book is so needed in the public schools!"

-Bev Vargo, Adult Ed Teacher, Baker College, Owosso

"Wow, when I got Lisa's book I thought I would just read a couple of pages, but I could not put it down. I finished it the same day. And the only question I had is when can I get my hands on book two!"

-Rhonda Hart, Radio Show Host WMUZ, Detroit

"Lisa's book was awesome! It's a miracle she even survived all the abuse. When we're young & not obedient to our parents (TROUBLE) big time! This should be required reading for 13 year olds in all schools."

-Exie Mc Kone, Mother & Grandmother

“Lisa writes well. She draws the reader in to where her experiences become the reader's experience. This book might be very helpful to a child that is considering the life of a runaway. The author does not preach or moralize; she just tells her story in a way that makes the book a page-turner.”

"Lisa and her boyfriend spend two years of their life on the road after running away. Drugs, criminal acts, rape, and abuse haunt their days and nights. Full of suspense that keeps the reader turning pages until the end, this modern day thriller is A definite deterrent for teens thinking of running away. This book would make an excellent teaching tool for educators and counselors."

-Recommended by Reviewer: Shirley Roe, Allbook Reviews, Feb. 2006

"Any teen who's ever thought of running away from home needs to read this novel to learn what life on the road is really like. Lisa is just 13 when she helps herself to some of her dad's cash and takes off with her older boyfriend, Bill. It seems easy-- "We'll just run away"--but the reality is that together with the freedom that comes a constant struggle to find food, warmth, a place to sleep, and another ride."

"Lisa Freeman is a writer, speaker, and mother of four teens. But she was once a runaway who spent two years living on the road with her boyfriend, and this gives her book a powerful authenticity. Some of the most horrific experiences described in this novel--the ones that you hope are fictional, such as rape at knifepoint--actually happened to her."

"As Lisa and Bill travel from one crisis to another, the action never flags and the book becomes increasingly difficult to put down."

"Wow! Is all I can say. I couldn't put the book down--I read it in 2 days! I thought I had a bad home life until I read what Lisa went through. My life is nothing! Now I never ever want to run away. Thanks for writing this book--it really changed the way that I view everything."

Wow! What an intense ride! And this is only book one- I can’t imagine what Lisa has in store for book two!

Run For Your Life by Lisa Freeman, is a must read! Not only for teenagers who think life would be better if they just ran away, but for all teenagers and parents as well.

A young girl of thirteen who had everything but the affection she desired from her parents finds the love she’s been yearning for in Bill, an older boy with a troubled family. A relationship that would soon have them on the run with a vast circle of strangers that held both of their young lives within the grasp of their clutching fists.

The young couple’s journey for freedom leads them through freezing winds and the sweltering jaws of heat. Lisa learns quickly the duties of an adult as well as learning to depend on herself and her instincts.

After two years of riveting memories and perfidious encounters, Lisa’s identity is discovered buying her two weeks in a ‘girls home hell’ and a one-way ticket home to face her disapproving family and a sinister judge.

Forbidden to see Bill, the love of her life, Lisa quickly gets her life turned around eventually gaining the trust of her parents and a new slate granted by the judge. Soon Bill heads off to boot camp to create a better life for them, and Lisa is tempted by not so good choices that could put her in a girls home. Will Lisa’s new turned path last?

Only book two will tell!

-Jamie Edson Opielski, Poet/Copy Writer

Based on a period of Lisa Freeman's life, “Run For Your Life” will have you doing anything but running. That is to say, you won't want to go anywhere but sit on the edge of your seat and get lost in this book. I found it impossible to come unglued from the pages. All I could think of is that Lisa actually survived through this. Once you read “Run For Your Life” I have no doubt you will be asking yourself the same question. While hitching cross country and back Lisa and her boyfriend encounter murderers' rapists' and mobsters' and every so often a kind natured soul. Freeman takes fear to another level. There's something much scarier than ghost's and goblins in this book; human beings. An amazing journey both physical and spiritual for both the characters' and the readers'.
